Nam Chung ponds, New Territories, Hong Kong
Plover Cove Country Park, New Territories, Hong Kong
Egrets, Fish Ponds and Waterfalls

This walk will take you through the quiet and beautiful scenery of the far north-eastern New Territories.

Starting at Nam Chung, close to the small island of A Chau and its huge egret colony in Starling Inlet, we will pass fish ponds, secluded
villages and a couple of small ghost towns as we roam the Pat Sin Leng and Plover Cove Country Parks.  As the walk does include a bit of
climbing – especially in the beginning - we will leave the peaks of
Pat Sin Leng for another day and instead concentrate on enjoying a day out
in one of the greenest and most quiet parts of Hong Kong.  With a little luck we could even come across a few wild pigs.

Towards the end of our walk, we will join the Pat Sin Leng & Bride’s Pool Nature Trails taking us through afforested and scrub areas, across
streams and eventually past some of Hong Kong’s more popular waterfalls.

Our walk ends at the new minibus stop in
Wu Kau Tang.  Consisting of a number of interconnected villages, Wu Kau Tang  is one of the most
species rich lowland forest sites in Hong Kong. According to the WWF, a total of 164 tree species have been recorded in the Wu Kau Tang
fung shui wood , including some rare ones.
