Today’s adventure begins the moment we board our sampan from Aberdeen to the tiny hamlet of Mo Tat Wan, where we climb a little hill to join the southern (less used) part of the Lamma Family Walk. Passing vegetable plots we drop down to the beach at Tung O Wan before embarking on the biggest challenge of the day, the 250m tall Ling Kok Shan.
The view from the top is spectacular – and we will take it easy. The only negative thing is that what goes up must come down and the descent from Ling Kok Shan does involve an awful lot of steps…
Slightly “jelly-kneed” we pass the seafood temptations of Sok Kwu Wan to head for the tranquil and secluded Lo So Shing Beach for a refreshment. After a pause, we continue our Lamma conquest by taking an unusual route to reach Yung Shue Wan in time for a late, but well-deserved lunch at a waterfront establishment.
Ferries leave Yung Shue Wan for Central or Aberdeen at reasonable intervals, so feel free to make this a full day out.
