Fantastic Views and Fabulous Dumplings (Or a walk from The Peak to Aberdeen)
Following a ride on the historic Peak Tram, most visitors will do the beginning of the Hong Kong trail, believing they have reached The Peak. They haven't. They are at Victoria Gap. We, however, will actually climb to the very peak of The Peak – or at least as high as we can before running the risk of getting arrested for trespassing.
From the Peak Tower we follow the road to the wonderful Victoria Peak Gardens and a rather exposed look-out. Next, we join the "Governor’s Walk" before dropping down past High West with great views over Victoria Harbour, Kowloon, and the West Lamma and Sulphur Channels. We leave the Hong Kong trail for a while to skirt the Pok Fu Lam Reservoir. Later we will stray onto a briddle path before the fishing harbour of Aberdeen is spread out before us.
In typical Hong Kong style, we finish the hike by traversing a cemetery before reaching the Tin Hau temple and bustle of Aberdeen. Our walk officially ends at the bus terminus on Aberdeen Praya Road, but you are welcome to join your guide for lunch at a tiny back street restaurant which serves the best dumplings in town – be that fried, steamed or in soup....
